Jim Goulding is a part-time instructor in Edgewoord College, Religious Studies Department, teaching Introduction to Major Religious Traditions and Topics in Religious Studies: Islam. He recently retired from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, where for 30 years he served as College Chaplain, Professor of Religion, and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Although his doctoral work was in the History of Christianity, his current interests are in social justice issues in the context of Christian ethics and in the study of Islam. He is strongly committed to helping people have an intelligent view of Islam.

A Look at the Muslim Statement “A Common Word Between Us and You” and Its Contribution to Abrahamic Interfaith Dialogue

His talk was about “A Common Word Between Us and You” and its contribution to Abrahamic Interfaith Dialogue. “A Common Word Between Us and You” is an open letter, dated 13 October 2007, from 138 leaders of the Muslim faith to leaders of the Christian faith. It calls for peace between Muslims and Christians and tries to work for common ground and understanding among both faiths.
